Russ Hill Station and

Jordan’s Carriage Sidings - Shed 4

Russ Hill is a busy through station with two signal boxes, Russ Hill South and Russ Hill North, usually requiring two operators. There are six platform roads plus ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ relief lines together with ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ goods facilities.

The South box controls the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ lines to Glovers Lane (on the main line) and Newdigate Road (on the branch) plus the ‘Up’ goods yard. The North box is responsible for the main line services to and from Tilgate, and two single line branches, one to Prestwood and the other to Jordan’s carriage sidings, and finally the ‘Down’ goods yard.
